Eastside Schoolhouse Gardens is nestled in Oregon’s rich farm land of Milton-Freewater. Our story begins with a historic 1912 two-room schoolhouse that has stood sentinel over generations of children. When we first toured the property we didn’t just see vacant buildings - we saw potential!
As lifelong gardeners, we envisioned restoring life to the neglected grounds and eventually the buildings. In 2021, we took a leap of faith and purchased the schoolhouse, knowing it needed a whole lot of love and hard work to bring it back to life. The plan is to create a farm that supports the maintenance of the schoolhouse. We know creating a thriving farmstand from an acre of weeds is a monumental task.
